The Sierra Club Needs You
 in the Effort to Protect New York's Environment

The Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter's volunteers and staff work with citizens statewide to advance legislative solutions to New York's most pressing environmental issues. This is a major priority even in our present condition of having no current staff (see the Job Openings announcement on our home page).

Corporate interests and others who lobby to weaken environmental protections have fat budgets for public relations and campaign contributions. The Sierra Club relies on the grassroots efforts of its members to convince elected officials that we need strong programs to protect our water, air and natural areas. Your letters, phone calls, and active involvement fuel our legislative campaigns.


Stay Informed!

Join the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter's action alert email list, for more information about pressing environmental issues facing New York State and ways to take action. Members receive an average of four emails a month. To subscribe, send an email to listserv@lists.sierraclub.org with the message in the body of the email saying "SUBSCRIBE ATL-ACTION-ALERTS@LISTS.SIERRACLUB.ORG your first and last name."


Contact Your Representatives

You'd be surprised how influential a letter or phone call from a constituent can be to a State Senator or State Assembly Member.

To find your State Senator's Contact Information:
Go to http://www.senate.state.ny.us, click on "Senators", click on your Senator, click on "contact." To identify your State Senator: Go to http://www.senate.state.ny.us, click on "Senators", click on "search by zip code", enter your zip code.

To find your Assembly Member's Contact Information:
Go to http://www.assembly.state.ny.us, scroll to your Assembly Member, click "go", click on "contact". To identify your Assembly Member: Go to http://www.assembly.state.ny.us, click to "click here to search by zipcode", enter your zipcode, and click "search".
