Committee Volunteer
A Political Committee Volunteer will help the Political Chair with
the following tasks, directed towards Long Island politicians:
The
setting up of interview appointments and interviews for endorsements
by the LISC.
Preparing
and reviewing questionnaires.
Writing
letters (both congratulatory and conciliatory).
Help
set up press conferences to announce endorsements, and arrange photo-ops.
Helping
to develop contacts with the media in order to publicize events.
Attending
cocktail parties and other social events when invited. Note, this
is the most difficult part of the job and you need to be 21 years
or older to participate.
Occasionally
appear at Town Board Meetings and Hearings, especially when one
of our endorsed candidates is proposing legislation that deserves
the support of the Sierra Club.
To volunteer for the
Political Committee please email
Michael Cafaro or call him
at 631-243-1127. You can also simply fill out our Volunteer
Form and submit it electronically.
The Sierra Club is a nonprofit member-supported,
public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural
environment by influencing public policy decisions -- legislative,
administrative, legal, and electoral.
