OUTREACH
- TABLING
Tabling is the
activity of attending to a Sierra Club table, at an organized event,
containing handouts (and possibly items for sale) and answering
questions. Tablers should encourage interested people to get involved
with Sierra Club’s work. Involvement can include signing a
petition, joining Sierra Club or filling out a volunteer survey.
Persons new
to tabling will always have an experienced person with them so if
you are asked a question which you don’t know the answer to,
refer the person to the experienced tabler. If you have been a Sierra
Club member and you read the mailings (even just periodically),
you would be prepared to answer most questions. Furthermore, most
answers appear in the handouts, but people prefer personal interactions.
You may volunteer for as many or as few events as you like. Most
events take place during the Spring and Fall. Materials for tabling
are brought to each event by the experienced tabler. Tabling usually
requires between 2 and 5 hours of your time depending upon the length
of the event, your availability, and the number of volunteers.
To
volunteer for tabling events please
email Jane
Fasullo or call her at 631-689-1568. You can
also simply fill out our Volunteer Form
and submit it electronically.
The Sierra Club is a nonprofit member-supported,
public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural
environment by influencing public policy decisions -- legislative,
administrative, legal, and electoral.
