Volunteer
Opportunities
We strongly encourage
you to get more active in your Sierra Club by volunteering ! To
learn about some of the various volunteer opportunities on Long
Island, first read the listing below which , though providing specifics
on some of the volunteer activities, isn't a complete listing.
Once
you've read the listing about the variety of volunteer opportunities
available on Long Island you'll need to fill out our volunteer form
which lists all the available opportunities.
To
volunteer, chose one of the two forms available:

Some Details
Our
group depends on active volunteers, and much of our work involves
simple organizational skills without having to attend politically-charged
meetings.
And the best thing is that you will meet new people and have fun!
So if you want to help your local group make a difference in your
community, help us by volunteering just a few hours a month.

E-mail Alerts
Our newsletter is one way of keeping you informed on environmental
issues, but it is only published four times a year. If you have
access to the internet, we invite you to join our Action Alert listserv
which is a fast, automated process for delivering time sensitive
information alerts. Listserv members receive occasional e-mail memos
about urgent issues, and may be asked to call or e-mail a public
official about those issues. In addition, we will send announcements
about upcoming Sierra Club events or meetings. You might get one
e-mail per week, sometimes more, sometimes none.
If you agree to be on our listserv, it will be strictly up to you
whether you take action on any of the announcements or not. If you
are too busy or don't agree with our stand, we won't know.
