Welcome, Prospective Sierra Club Member

The Sierra Club welcomes all those concerned about our priceless wild open spaces, as well as the importance of a  healthy environment.   You will receive Sierra magazine (the national magazine of the Sierra Club), the state chapter's newsletter and activist alerts, and your local group's newsletter.   Membership will also keep you informed on the many get-togethers, conservation and outings activities and educational efforts sponsored by the state chapter and by the local groups, as well as those of the national organization.  As a member, you will receive a discount on a subscription to the outings committee's printed quarterly outings schedule.

The Atlantic Chapter (New York State) has over 30,000 members.  Many participate in our outings, social gatherings, conservation meetings and volunteer conservation work.  We have some 550,000 members nationwide organized into an sophisticated, informed group of citizens and environmentally-aware outdoors people.

The Sierra Club is a not-for-profit organization which advances its concerns by all legal means. It is most effective when we show the logic and strength of our position on an issue via action, education and outreach.  But it is a fight that never ends. We need your support!  Many volunteer opportunities exist for those who wish to devote time and energy to this battle.

Contributions, gifts and dues to the Sierra Club are not tax deductible; they support
our effective, citizen-based advocacy and lobbying efforts. Your dues include $7.50 for
your subscription to Sierra Magazine and $1 for your Chapter newsletter.
