Solutions for Global Warming

The Heat Is On - What You Can Do To Turn It Down General Meeting

7:00pm, Tuesday, November 14th Brighton Town Hall

Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, has been hugely successful. By now, the case for global warming is established as a fact in most people’s minds. But the film is not strong on what we can do about global warming. Our Rochester Group invites you to a showing of positive answers described on other DVD’s and a discussion of solutions to this mega environmental problem.

If you need motivation to come, it should be noted that Al Gore’s most recent lectures have focused on “Plans for Emergency Solutions.” He’s now saying, “The debate over global warming climate crisis has now moved on to the question of how we can craft emergency solutions in order to avoid catastrophic damage.” Fortunately we already have all the basic tools and technologies to solve this problem. What we lack is the political will and a vision of international cooperation.

The Sierra Club recommends a number of immediate actions on both the personal level and on state and national levels. At this meeting, we will explain how we can work on global warming “one city at a time” through the Cool Cities program. We’ll see parts of some new DVD’s showing solutions and we’ll explain our New York State Chapter programs which call for fair net-metering laws, energy efficiency, conservation, and alternative power. We’ll also discuss the dangers and difficulties of the big coal option which is being heavily touted as the solution to our dependence on foreign oil.

This is a program on the future of the earth. For the sake of our children you can’t afford to miss it. Brighton Town Hall is located at 2300 Elmwood Avenue.
