The Sierra Club needs your help to protect New York's environment
Say No! to the Champlain Hudson Power Express Line!
The Champlain Hudson Power Express 1000MW underwater transmission line is a high-voltage, direct current electric line, slated to run underwater from the Canadian border to Queens, NY.
There are many environmental issues with this project, ranging from the obvious (destruction of habitat both in Canada and NY), to the less obvious (the power supplied from Canada is directly threatening the livelihood of the Cree and Innu Indigenous Peoples).
Will you please take action today? Write or call Governor Cuomo, as well as US Dept of State Clinton, and NY Public Service Commission (NYPSC) Secretary Brilling. Tell them NO to the Champlain Hudson Power Express Transmission Line (Case: 10-T-0139). NY needs to focus on energy efficiency and true renewable energy, not a project disguised as sustainable.
